I’m not certain whether it is a coincidence, or whether the addition of the Lower Eye to my spirit has made a change, but something is different between me and Freya. She is beginning to be aware of my presence on more than a subconscious level.
It’s happened a few times this week—I will come to join her, and she will glance up from whatever she is doing. Or I will voice a thought, and she will frown as if she heard me with her ears. To her it seems that she sees a shadow out of the corner of her eye or hears a noise from the other room.
Thankfully none of these things frighten her—she trusts me, even though she doesn’t know that it is me that she trusts. And she never thinks much of these encounters. But it worries me. The connection between us will only grow stronger with time, and soon enough she may notice enough to make her worried, too.
I have spoken to Orison, but he says that it is not something that concerns the seniors just yet. The danger presented by the Fallen is more serious, and he wants a Cherub to be on guard over her.
Which is even more worrying.
Still, I believe there is a compromise that I can make. I want Freya to be safe, but I also don’t want her to feel that she is watched in her own home. I want her to never know that danger ever came close to her spirit.
