Time only for a quick update: all of my charges are doing well currently, particularly Brooke and Morgan. This weekend Brooke was given a four-day break, and she made excellent use of it, flying back to New York and straight into Morgan’s arms. The two of them have been together all day, and though I have only been able to check up on them for a few moments before having to leave them to themselves, I know that they are perfectly content.
Myrtle has managed to gather together a few dancers to join her in her new work, which has grown steadily more ambitious. She spent last night and this morning in Boston with two friends from college, Avery and Suprima, as well as none other than Ashton, her so-called ‘worst enemy’ with whom she has been in competition for some time. It seems that they have mended their rivalry enough to be able to work together. I have had to keep an eye on the two of them, as Myrtle and Ashton have also been lovers, but they have been very professional. It is reassuring to me that Myrtle is so committed to Jaquinn now that she did not even give her former relationship with Ashton more than a passing thought.
The routine Myrtle is working out for the four of them is coming along, and she is pushing herself considerably to make it the best it can be, drawing on the full breadth of her skill. Even the rough forms of the work that I have seen are breathtaking, and I cannot wait to see the full finished piece.
Lauren and Jonathan are also making progress. Her kiss opened the door to a relationship for the two of them, and both are moving forward with it. Lauren is enthusiastic, having reached the point when, in her own words, she cannot imagine having ever not liked Jonathan. He is a bit more hesitant, for two reasons that I can see. For one, he is unsure that he is ready to dive into a relationship, having lived his own private life for so long that the idea of sharing it is frightening. The second reason, however, is more reassuring to me, for he does like Lauren, that much is clear. He likes her so much, in fact, that he is afraid of the possibility that he might ruin everything. So he is being very careful. I have been keeping close to the both of them, knowing that it is currently a delicate balance between them.
As for Pamela, she has entered wholeheartedly into flirtation with Daniel, who is perfectly willing to engage. He admires her enthusiasm, finds her an intelligent conversationalist, and believes that she is beautiful. They have much in common, in fact, and yet I have been holding Pamela back from giving him the whole force of her persuasive personality. After all she does not have the best history with lovers, and she needs a good one badly. I want to learn more about this man before she gives him her heart. It has been difficult to instill caution in her, however, for she loves so deeply and easily. I will have to stay with her in the coming days.
Duerre also tells me that Hugh has been in therapy for a few months now, and that he and Cordell both have noticed a change for the better—he is happier, less exhausted, more comfortable with himself. Whether this change will lead to a connection between the two of them still remains to be seen, but they are good friends at least, and that is something worthy of pride.
Danit says I will meet my newest assignment very soon. Finally! I have been waiting for this for some time. I wonder what kind of person I will be looking after this time? I look forward to finding out.
